An underhood light on a 1984 to 1996 Chevrolet Corvette is a small lighting fixture installed under the hood (also known as the bonnet) of the car. Its primary purpose is to provide illumination when working on the engine or other components located in the engine bay during low-light conditions or at night.
The underhood light is typically connected to a switch that activates when the hood is opened, automatically turning on the light. This allows for better visibility when inspecting, maintaining, or repairing components under the hood. When the hood is closed, the switch is triggered, and the light turns off to save battery power.
Though not a critical component for the vehicle’s operation, the underhood light is a convenient feature for those who need to perform maintenance or repairs in less than ideal lighting conditions.
