How to scan the Corvette QR Code to read your RPO Codes

Corvette QR Code RPO Code Banner

Beginning in 2018, General Motors added a QR Code to the Certification label on all Corvette models. This new QR code includes the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), RPO Codes and other information that identify the content of the Corvette.

What is a QR Code?

A QR Code is a simple barcode that offers information in a digital format.

Where can I find the QR Code on a Corvette?

The QR Code (shown in Figure 1) can be found on the driver’s side door.

How do I scan the QR Code?

Software to read the QR code is commonly available for any Android, iPhone or Windows smartphone and can be downloaded directly from your phone’s application marketplace.

NOTE: Most smartphones have a QR reader built into the stock camera application. To check if your smartphone does, open the default camera application and point it at the QR Code. Your phone should recognize it instantly. If not, download an application from your phone’s application marketplace.

As an iPhone user I downloaded an app called QR Reader from the App Store. (Download Link for iPhone Users) Once it downloaded, I scanned the code and the following information was displayed:

NOTE: If you click the share button in the top right corner, you can email the QR Code information to yourself.

How do I read the QR Code’s information?

Once the QR Code is scanned and the vehicle information is loaded, it will appear in the following order:

VIN, Model Year, Model, Build Month, Year, Engineering Book, Vehicle Order Number, 3 Digit RPO Codes (sorted alphanumerically), and the Paint Code (the paint code also appears in the lower left corner of the QR Code)

Below is an example of how the scanned text should be displayed. (Scroll left and right to read all of it.)

The commas that are used indicate separation of information; however, the RPO Codes do NOT have comma separation. Instead, the RPO Codes are separated by a space and are sorted alphanumerically.

The commas after the paint code indicate the database from which the paint code was retrieved. There are four databases. The example above shows the paint code was retrieved from the fourth database.

Up to 48 RPO codes can be displayed from the scanned QR code. It does not include all the RPO codes displayed in the Investigate Vehicle History.

Where can I find descriptions for my RPO Codes?

The crew at Corvette Salvage has designed a table which contains every Regular Production Option (RPO) Code and Description from General Motors. It’s super easy to use and comes with a provided search box to filter through the codes.
